We're excited to welcome back Snow Phoenix!
Snow Phoenix is an arcade dedicated to bringing conventions the very best in Japanese arcades! With a diverse stock of imported cabinets, SPX is always ready and excited to be able to help take con game rooms to the next level! They will be bringing a selection of authentic Japanese arcade machines that you would not normally be able to find in arcades here in America. A list of games will be announced soon! Follow them on Facebook and Twitter. Announcing our Special Guest: Sarah Williams!03/19/2023

Everything is open!12/07/2022
It has been too long! I want to address the several month long silence from us, but I'll get the nice, short, TL;DR important information out of the way first!
EVERYTHING is updated and open. Vendor and Artist applications are open. The panel application is open. The volunteer application is open. But most importantly - registration is open! I also tried to surprise everyone by quickly whipping up a new banner and profile pic for our social media while waiting for our official artwork. I may have also let it slide what our theme for 2023 is... But more information on that later! While doing all these updates to the website at 2 AM I may have missed some things, so please email us (hazardconvention@gmail.com) with the info on anything you find that is wrong here. Now, onto the more serious stuff. What happened? Why have we been so quiet? In short, life during and after COVID affected us deeply. Most of our founding staff and board members have stepped down due to how difficult managing an event is on top of an already hectic life. We're working on filling those positions, but it takes time, so planning has been slow. We also lost a lot of funding due to having to cancel Hazard Con 2020 and moving Hazard Con 2021 online didn't help either. We rely on a certain level of attendance to have the funding to run the show, but our attendance decreased by roughly 50% between 2019 and 2022, so we had to scramble to fund the difference to pay our venue. We participated in a charity event in August where we raised just over $2,600 thanks to the generosity of our awesome community (you!!) and we had other donations of various amounts by some volunteer staff after the event. These donations helped Hazard Con not be in the negative following Hazard Con 2022. Unfortunately, we are extremely low on funds for 2023. I am a determined person who loves all the attendees, guests, and volunteers we have at Hazard Con every year, so I don't plan on giving up yet, but I do ask for your patience and understanding as to why our prices have increased and our number of guests has decreased. We did realize during all of this that many people didn't realize that Hazard Con is ran by a 501(c)(3) organization, which means your donations are able to be claimed on your taxes, so I have created an additional page here on the website to explain some things about that and share some links. What next? We're waiting on our new official artwork to share with everyone. This includes art you'll see on our social media pages as well as on our print advertisements and badges. We're still collecting donations and searching for sponsors so we can keep the quality of Hazard Con as high as possible without raising the prices super high. We are still looking for volunteers to make sure the con runs smoothly and panelists to keep things fun and interesting! We're working on contracts for our arcade, tabletop game room, voice talent, and performers so we should have some announcements about them soon! I can't thank everyone who has supported Hazard Con enough, and I can't wait to keep seeing all of you for as long as possible. Thank you for taking the time to read this long (kind of sad) post! ♡ Thank you! Thank you! Thank you! - Teague // Con Chair |
